Sequence: 5-oxo-L-prolyl-L-histidyl-L-tryptophyl-L-seryl-L-tyrosyl-D-leucyl-L-leucyl-L-arginyl-N-ethyl-L-prolinamide acetate.

Indication: Leuprolide is indicated in the prostate cancer since it reduce the production of testosterone which can slow down the progress of the cancer. In the same way it stop the early puberty by reduce the sexaul hormone ( testosterone for the boys and estrogen for the girls).

Prostate cancer:

– long-acting suspension:

● 22.5 mg for 3 month: 1 injection for every 12 week.

● 30 mg for 4 month: 1 injection for every 16 week.

● 45 mg for 6 month: 1 injection for every 24 week.

– Short-acting: 1 ml/0.2 ml per day.

Early puberty: the treatment will stop at 11 years old for girl and 12 years old for boy.

● 25 kg to 37.5 kg: 11.25 mg monthly

● >37.5 kg: 15 mg monthly

Side effects: Leuprolide might give some side effects like oedema, weight gain; allergic in injection site; hyperglycemia (increased thirst, increased urination, hunger…); headache, vomiting, nausea, sweating.

Precaution: Do not use the drug if you allergic to any of the composition. Leuprolide can lead to the risk of diabetic since it can increase the blood sugar. Inform your doctor or Pharmacist if you have unusual vaginal bleeding.
